accuracy getting better
« on: March 04, 2009, 03:57:30 PM »
I have had my hornet for about 5 years now and just started reloading for it. I also just had a trigger job done to it, sweeeeeeet!
I shot some groups yeasterday. 13 gr of lilgun with 45 gr Hornady's and cci small pistol primers.
3 shot groups are 3/4" and 5 shot groups are 1.25
I am happy but not finished. Going to try and get it tighter.
Would it stabalize 55gr bullets. 1-12 twist, Loaded with 13 gr it should shoot 2650fps and would ultimately be flatter shooting than 45 or 40 gr with more velocity at 100-200-300- yds, starts off less but  starts exceding at 100 yds.
Thats what the ballistic calculator says. the 55 in a nosler BT has twice the coefficency than the 45 gr hornady

The ballistic tip in 55 grain is a pretty long bullet. In my 1in14 twist 22-250 it is a finely accurate bullet.  2650 out of a 1 in 12 twist rifle you'd have to try em to see.
