Recently I made a deal to buy some (20 boxes) 222 rem ammo for $8 a box. So what did I do...i traded for two hornet barrels and the worst of the two chambers and throat will become a 222 rem. I was able to pick up a 222 rem reamer from Z hat on gunbroker for $25 and the ammo i bought came with dies.

Is that handi holic crazy or just crazy?

Have you ever bought ammo and built the gun to fit it?

Makes perfectly good thinking to me.......but I'm a Handiholic too. I haven't got a clue as to what a normal person would do

We'd probably have to post somewhere else to find out

That's a no brainer and one you can explain to the wife that she will understand. How can you let such a good deal slip by with out buying .I have bought over 200 rounds of vintage 30-40 Krag before having the bbl although now I got the bbl just waiting to rechamber. Also got 150 rounds of 41mag w/dies just waitin for me to do a custom bore. I'ts not silly at all.............is it?

The other one is the 17HMR versa pack bbl now that one is just waiting for an executive decision to be made.Kurt

Been there done that, in fact I bought an RCBS .500S&W die set and a couple boxes of 350gr bullets that were on clearance sale for half price about 2 months before I bought a barrel from you to use them in!!!

Wow! building a rifle to fit some ammo! I am gonna have to take this Handiholic road myself......you see a good friend of mine brought me a 50 BMG round back from the sandbox......

I guess a heavy barrel Handi is just what is called for .....hmmm - let me do the calculations with Tims Recoil computer......WOW!!!!! Over 400 ft/lbs of recoil!!!!! I guess I'm gonna have to put a lot of lead in the buttstock!

Nope, your crazy!!! I have never done exactly that, I did however get a free AR15 grip through the "Pay it forward" thread on this site and built an AR15 around it, does that count?....<><....

I quess I am a bit crazy myself....

It's a perfectly acceptable practice, and one that I can easily justify with my wife. I can't count how many times she's bought a pair of shoes and then 'Built' an outfit around them! You know...what's good for the goose...

Thats how I ended up with a 454!!! I tried some really hot 45 Colts..didnt like the idea after the fact. had some brass so I loaded up 50 454s and THEN decided I needed to rechamber my 45Colt handi for 454!

SO, I say its perfectly normal "Handihaulic" thinking!!!

GOOD JOB!!

Additional "therapy" sessions again here as needed. LOL

I just bought 50 once fired 35 Whelen nickel cases. Dont have the barrel yet. It is perfectly normal.

357 max brass=300ea. Loaded rounds=50ea. Barrels chambered for it=0. Sounds like you're in fine company to me.

Hurry up and rechamber the hornet barrel to a 222,I would really like to know how it does.I've got 2 of the 222's and they outshoot just about everything I've got.I'm also waiting to see how the 357 Herret turned out. Digger

Just no time to shoot Digger. I am hoping to get off work for a couple of weeks in May and go home. I have many barrels to report on. I bought a great 45-70 Shikari a few weeks ago that is waiting for me in Oklahoma. I am anxious to shoot the Herrett. I think it will be great out of the short barrel (16.5"). That Herrett might turnout to be my everyday armadillo, gopher, coyote gun for the 4 wheeler if i ever get time off.

One time my wife asked me if I needed anything while she was at Wal-Mart. I told her to get me some 20 gauge bulk ammo.
She ended up coming home with 28 gauge instead. I was planning on sending my SB2 receiver in for a .357 Mag barrel anyway so I just added the 28 gauge barrel to the list!

i hope im sane to cause i just put in a order today for 100 357 max cases today,now im starting to think that a hundred isnt enough,might have to order some more while i can get them.then i can worrie about getting the rifle.
