Well I finally got brave tonite and shimmed up the .223 bbl that I got in a trade.
It was about .0025 off. i followed the instuctions in the FAQ...
Well, metal shims and I don't get along very well at all... So Back to he FAQ's where I discover where a member had used JB weld (stick) to basically bed the pivot. Having a few fiberglass bedding jobs under my belt on a few bolt actions I figured what the heck. If all else fails I'll just hang the rifle that I weld together on the wall as a testiment to my utter incapacity to use any of my mechanical abilities.
So luckily I had purchased JB quick... Mixed up a good batch of it, globbed it on the pivot area. While that was setting my brain realized that I hadn't yet found a release agent. Frantically diving through my junk drawer, I came across none other than my long lost can of mink oil. Greasy and slick! Grabbing some q-tips I doused the pivot pin and receiver w/ the mink oil. The JB had set up perfectly, so I went to work. A couple of tries later, the action closed. I let that sit for a min. Pulled it off. Yay! The JB didn't stick to the pivot pin and behold! The JB molded into an almost perfect and square shape of the pivot pin.
I can actually say that once I used my brain, and made myself stop inventing new swear words, the whole process was fairly easy. I'll post pics when I'm done.
Thanks to all for making such great contributions to the FAQ's! Those are invaluable bits of knowledge.
