Howdy
« on: February 24, 2009, 03:55:58 AM »
Hi Guys and Gals,I've been a lurker on this site since Graybeard took it over,I just wanted to say that everyone on this site has been a huge help for me with my Handi's. I've always wanted to post ,but my knowledge on these rifles compared to everyone else here is mighty small. The whole point of my post is just to say THANK YOU to everyone.
Oh and in case anyone wants to know my Handi collection is small but I do enjoy them. 2-30.30's 1-.280 1-.243 and I hope to get a .44 mag soon but I don't reload ( as of yet ) so I'm trying to decide if I should get an older used one or a new one, because if I understand it the newer one's shoot factory ammo a little better than the older one's
  Anyhow Thanks
 Steve aka Chickenman

Welcome Steve!!  ;) No need to lurk all the time, as Bob said, everyone has something to contribute, even if it's just moral support!!  ;D

Welcome!!

Just hop in with comments any time you feel like it.  My knowledge of these rifles is limited at best, but they still let me post  :P
Hanging around with this group of guys you will find yourself knowing the answers to questions you didn't even know you had.

I also recommend the "round the ol' pot bellied stove" forum for off topic discussions.  You can really hone your sarcasm skills there  ;D
If you do decided to get into reloading, the Reloading forum here is top notch.  This is literally hundreds of years of experience.  You won't have a problem that hasn't been seen before.

Thanks for the welcome guys, I think that as soon as I get my .44 mag bought I'm going to be looking into some reloading equipment. So I guess I'll be bugging the crap out of everyone on the reloading forum with stupid new guy questions since I don't have a clue about reloading.

  Thanks again

Chickenman, I think you'll like the .44.  I don't have one, but it is high up on my list. I too am very new with reloading and have found and bookmarked a lot of answers to my questions.  Welcome Home, enjoy.

WELCOME Chicken man!!

You dont need allot of knoledge here to post here. An opinion will suffice. Much is plain common sence and good common sence will take you a LONG WAY!!  :o ;D

Your 44 delema is a tough one and one that kept me from owning one for many years. I lucked into a deal for a old shakari model from the mid '70s. I jumped when Tim (Quickdtoo) assured me the barrel diameters where good then.  I think I would avoid the older barrels for the over sized issue. IMHO the 45 long colt is a better lead shooter, so the 44 becomes a jacketed shooter for me. BUT, you still have two options. Buy another caliber with a SB2 frame (Or... perish the thought... use one you may already have.)and send it in for a current 44 barrel.

 Good hunting,
 CW

Welcome.  The newer 44s shoot real good, I'd try to get one of them since ya don't reload yet.  And it's an easy one to start reloading with, lots of componets and information on it plus it's a snap with the carbide dies.  Most everyone here is great and will help anyone, even me!  Between advice and parts, can't say I've met a nicer bunch of people.  DP      PS, Just don't call me a smart a--, I prefer "intellectual anus".

Welcome aboard Steve!

This sight has proved to be invaluable to me.  I actually had to fit a bbl I bought the other day, and the FAQ's proved to be priceless.  And if your having trouble finding something, just ask.  Most of the time one of us can answer the question off the top of our heads or give you a link to the facts.  :D

Nice to meet you :D
