Adjusting front globe sight on Buffalo Classic
« on: February 14, 2009, 02:17:10 PM »
Got to shoot my new BC today at the range, grouped okay but was a little to the right started adjusting the rear Williams sight and noticed the front sight was not quite centered but no adjustments there.
It only needs less than a 1/64" but I see it is in a dovetail groove with no set screw.
Has anybody adjusted these. Also plan on getting the smith ladder sight will the globe work with this or do I need a different front sight. ???
Thank God for the woods and the critters that inhabit them

That front sight is usually stuck in there really tight.  Some have reported it being glued it.  Mine wasn't but you have to pound on it pretty hard with a brass punch to get it to move.  If you have the adjustment in your Williams, I'd leave the front sight alone until I got my Smith sight so I only had to adjust it once.

Its "drift" adjustable. Meaning you "whack" it with a hammer and a brass drift. There is no set screw, its held in its dovetail with friction and a wedge fit.

Use the info on how to remove the front sight in the FAQs, they're in there real tight, but you can adjust it, that's how it was always done before modern contrivances and adjustable sights were made!!  ;D
