357 maximum with Hornady Flex Tip
«
on:

I just got in 200 of the Hornady Flex Tip bullets in .35 caliber with a weight of 200 grains. I'm going to try these in my 357 maximum rifle and was wondering if anyone else out these has shot this bullet in their MAX.

I just got mine today and will be loading some up tomarrow....
I'm gonna check bearing surfaces and compair to some other 200's I have loaded in the past. Hopefully they are close.
I'll hopefully find AA1680 is a good powder for the 200's.

Got a loading table from Hornady today showing AA1680 giving by far the highest velocity from a 450 325FTX from an 18.5" barrel at 2100 fps.

I believe 25.? was a max.. I started at 22gr and stopped at 24gr as 24 was severly compressed.
I like this powder in my 375Win and that too is a compressed load.
I'll be loading some 1680 today...

I could only get 1850 fps with maximum loading of RE7 and 180 gr out of my 357max. I have long since left the RE7 for the 45-70 and use H110 in the maxie and increased by 200 fps.
