FIXED!!!POI Shift Spacer loose

Hey guys,  just wanted to give a heads up.  I've been breaking in a rifle I bought for the youngest and decided to shot my 22 hornet inbetween cool downs.  I had the Ultra apart and oiled because of getting caught in the rain two weeks ago, and wanted to check zero.  Had to make some adjustments and started tearing the bull out at 50yds.  Then all of a sudden 2inches low about 7-oclock.  What the....maybe I pulled that one.  Next four +2" in general area of the flyer.   Checked the shelf for stray oil,...it was dry inspected forearm,..it is tight,but wait its wiggling near spacer.  Took the forearm off and spacer nearly falls off.  The screws appear stripped and lots of play because of it.  I guess I'll have to fill and get a fatter screw.  This is a steel spacer, and never had the screws cause a problem before.  I hope getting wet didn't cause a problem, but after I fix I'll see if its still shooting.  Just wanted to share and see if anyone had this happen.  Good thing I checked the forearm.

After you fill the holes and redrill them make sure that you apply a sealer over the end of the forearm.
I have taken a few spacers off of some of my forearms for fitting purposes and found that mine were not sealed.
Don't know if that is a common practice with them but if not sealed then the rain you were in could have caused the wood to expand enough to let the screws come loose.

On the filling,....I have wood putty, JB weld, and epoxy.  Which would be the best for camo Lam forearm?

Jerry, since you're working on it, might as well bed the spacer while you're at it, see  by Fred M in the FAQs under Accurizing.  ;)

Used Perma Poxy made two needle like sticks and shoved into holes, let sit overnight then lightly sanded flush,..cleaned up fore-end and applied a pancake of the epoxy to the fore-end ,..had the spacer in-place on radius of frame and tapped forearm into place with rubber mallet and secured with forearm screw.  Let it sit overnight again and cleaned up everything the next day,..used oil where I didn't want it to stick of course.  Oh also bedded the forearm stud will I was at it.

around .25" at 50 yards! I'm back in business.  Thanks guys! ;)
