I don't have any airsoft guns and know very little about them, though I do have some experience working on airguns.
My question is, can I convert an airsoft rifle to fire steel BBs? Is it just a barrel swap with some fitting? Or is it a completely different animal? What I want to do is make a reasonable facsimile of the carnival "shoot the star out of the target" BB Tommy gun. Originals are really hard to come by and getting nothing but more collectable. I can get a Thompson airsoft as easy as clicking "Buy it NOW". If I can re barrel it to shoot BBs, or chilled shot like the originals, that would make my day.
