Want one, no need one.  Can't find one.  Help!?

Don't blame you. Of all my shooters (as opposed to the dust collectors) I've had over the years - my H&R Topper 30-30 is by far my favorite.

Probably not going to help you much but there are two advertised in my local gun store in Ontario Canada. One has stainless 20 gauge barrel to go with it.

Highly doubt they'd let me carry it back across the border.

I don't know. What is the law about guns crossing the border? What about barrels? To be honest, I wouldn't mind one of the guns as the price is great but the calibre is wrong. I wish it were aesier to swap out barrels or even sell the 30-30 or I would be in!

I know of a gun store/gunsmith (Ive dealt with him exclusively for 15 years plus) that is going out of business in march and has 1 left in his stock room with syn stocks(30-30). I know as of friday it was still there. If anyone needs one and is close to Augusta ga/Aiken sc area, I might be able to lead yah the right way. I will stop in there this morning and make sure it is still there and the price if anyone may be interested. I have 2-1 in 30-30 and the other is 30-30 AI,,, love em both,. Art

My local gun shop usually carries the 30/30 Handi in stock (Blued metal on wood) for $259.  Phone # 828-724-4815    Presnell's General Merchandise is the name.

Sorry I didn't get back to this thread faster. Snow in eastern NC is a big deal. Situation solved.  Thanks for the support.

You'd better hurry there on wholesale hunter.  It says discontinued like I've been saying.  I really h ope I'm wrong and just the model numbers are changing (which would make the old model #'s discontinued).

PASingleshot,
It think it means that they, ie, Wholesale Hunter aren't going to carry
that particular model anymore. I don't think it has anything to do with
H&R or Remington.

Bob, I may tend to agree with you, but when I bought my 500 & 45-70 handi's a few weeks ago, the distributor told my dealer that they were discontinued.  Also here is another link .

There are no doubt some models discontinued, the 243 Superlight could very well be one of them, but I'm in regular contact with a Remington/H&R contact, and I assure you H&R products are still high in their priorities to maintain product availability, there are lots of ignorant dealers, it appears you have met one of em, why in the hell would Remington spend millions to move production to Ilion NY only to discontinue the product line!!  ::)

Anything's possible in today's economy, but that hasn't happened yet as far as H&R is concerned, H&Rs are still in stock at three distributors I checked, RR Arms has over 20 of some chamberings, SSI and Zanders both list them instock, none list any H&Rs as discontinued, I'd be more inclined to believe those dealers are just not carrying them any more. It's also possible that Remington is changing model numbers along with the serial number changes.

Tim, just so you know, I'm not trying to start anything or whatever.  I love my H&R/NEF rifles and would hate to see them go.  I've used a Marlin 336 .35rem since I was 12.  I was reared on their products.  I'm just starting to get my handi collection growing and I'd hate to miss some calibers before I get more $$$.  I know I could buy the barrels but that to me isn't the same as a complete gun.  Have a good day!  ;D

Well, if you read my original post on the 17 Rem Fireball poll, you'll get an idea of why I say Remington has no intentions of giving up on the H&R product line, they're interested in broadening the offerings, not reducing it unless they drop poor sellers which is SOP for marketing.  ;)
