Spring bear season is just around the corner

So now it is time to book all your hunts if you have not already for the fall bear hunt.

I am booked again with Wild Country Outfitter, I am taking my bear hunting buddy with me this year.  Pete Koch the outfitter is a great guy, and will work his butt off to get you a bear.

6 months is not long. Before you know it, we will be in the woods hunting once again.  ;D

Im still kicking around the idea of hunting this bear season here in Michigan or not.  I usually hunt every other year, -----but the monster that disappeared on me last year has got me thinking I might break tradition.  I ended up bagging a smaller bear at a different stand, but can't help but wonder if the hog is still out there.  He was taller than the 55 gal drum by an inch or 2, belly about 6 inches off the ground and a head like big black pumpkin with two ears of the sides.  I'll try to post a pic from the trailcam when I get the right cable to hook it to the computer.

In Wisconsin you better have had your application in for the last 7-10 years or you're not going to be hunting legally. I guess they will be giving out more tags this year though.

Only Mn hunting for me, I wish I could hunt in WI. I own a shack and 40 acres in Dougals County.

Six_gunz and his oldest son are booked to hunt there, at the same time as you this August. Not me, I can't make it.

After reading your posts from last season and repeated conversations with Pete I decided to book with him. My son (16) and I are both going. It's close to home and that makes it even better!
I'm looking forward to it. I will be bowhunting and my son is going to use my Guide Gun.

six_gunz, I can't wait to meet you and your son. We will have a blast. You are going to like his set up for your bow hunting.
My buddy coming up with me is going to use his Marlin GG as well in 45-70. I could not talk him into using his handgun.

The good news is I have my tag for here in Idaho.  The bad news is there is stil 3 feet of snow on the ground in my hunting area.  Unless spring kicks it in gear they may not be out even if we have access for our spring season.   That happened last year too.   I did get a fall bear tho....

Rokefert: if you have a bear that size in your neck of the woods, you need to get after it!!  I hunt in the UP (live down by the MI/IN line) with an American Indian friend, and my largest bear to date has come from up there.  He has taken three in the 500# range, but all I've seen from the really huge ones are their tracks!  :'(  My next bear hunt will be farther west in hopes of taking a color-phase blackie.  I have been fortunate to take three of black color with my recurve, so I am looking for more 'color' for my wall!   ;D
