Romanian Help please.
« on: January 13, 2009, 11:19:27 AM »
Have a romanian Training rifle in 22LR I gave to a friends kid and it is failing to feed.
Does anyone have an exploded view of this rifle?
It looks like there is a knick in the bolt that is not allowing the firing pin to freely move but want to be sure that there is/ was not a return spring on it.

RFC has a Romanian Trainer forum, you might try a search there. http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=125

Thanks tim,
But if you can't find good advice on GBO you don't need the advice.

Don't know if this helps but... I have a rom trainer. Had the feed problem I found I had to do the tap thing with the mag on a solid surface after loading the rounds into the mag. Bullet noses facing up and tap mag on shooting bench

Mcwoodduck,

make sure the bolt is clean and dry. No gooey lubes etc. No springs in there. The romanian uses the firing pin as the ejector, and when they get gunky the pin does not slide back into it's slot so easy and will jam up when you try to chamber the next round. Clean the bolt and make sure the firing pin moves very freely in the slot and it might help. Also look at the feed lips of the magazine. They do tend to be a little beat up.

good luck

Bull,
Thanks.  I will strip the bolt this weekend and clean it and NOT lube it.  I gave the kid 5 mags for the gun.  the one that came with it and a few from Tiwan.  all 5 were not feeding but I will tear down the original mag that was giving us problems the last time we went shooting.
By the way I still have the box of brass to send to you and will make an effort to get it to the shipping department today.

I figured it out and with a little file work I smothed out the burr in the bolt body that was causing friction on the firing pin.  Seems to be working fine now.
Thank you all for youe help.
