357 magnum/20 guage slug combo !
« on: January 14, 2009, 04:37:34 PM »
ordered a 357 / 20 gauge combo Tuesday , should be here Thursday . wondering if the Nikon 4x32 would be a good scope for this gun (357) i think they say the Nikon 4x32 is a rim fire scope but was wondering if it would be OK on the 357 ?

Congrats again, Kelly!! Others have discussed using it, it should work fine on the 357.  ;)

Recoil with the 357 Mag barrel installed on my 45 Colt Carbine w/metal butt plate is nil.  Scopes intended for rim-fires should holdup fine.

Kelly,
I have a cheapo, older BSA 2.5 rimfire scope (I think they went for $19.95 a couple of years ago) on a 357 Max.
Now they are just under $40 bucks at Walmart http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=6497996.
I've had no probs with it.. mind you I shoot pretty moderate loads much of the time.
Anyway, I'm inclined to think the Nikon you mention is probably much better built than the BSA.

Here's a very similar scope, it's $30 shipped, works on heavy kickers too, there's a bunch of us here that have them, some like them so much they have several!!  ;D

Hey, I like that one better!
I just came into $40 bucks, Think I'll get me a couple too! One of 'em would probably do just fine on my 30/30 Topper.

Thanks Tim.
