Rem 700 detachable mag help/advise
« on: January 03, 2009, 05:25:12 PM »
Hello all,

I have a Remington 700 SPS in 223 made on the BDL action.  I love the barreled action but the stock is a piece of Tupperware crap and does not allow for proper bedding or a free floated barrel.

My plan is to bed this barreled action in a Bell and Carlson Medalist stock with a free floated barrel.  I am also playing with the idea of increasing the mag. capacity. That is what I am looking for help and advice on since I have not done that before.  I have done some snooping around online and have not found the answer yet.

From what I can tell I have a couple options
1. Use one of the Arms Tech Mag Extender floorplates that Midway sells
2. Get a detachable mag unit like the Badger unit for the gun and install it.

Out of the two The second sounds like the most "correct" way to do things.

I am having a hard time finding a quality detachable magazine unit to fit the short action 223 rounds.  Do any of you know of any such units available anywhere?

Thanks,

Ray

Might not be what you are looking for but there is a guy who sells a stock with the removable mag for a rem 700 on gunbroker.  He has them listed all the time.
