How many of you get Bear Hunter Magazine?
« on: May 12, 2008, 01:19:17 PM »
I  have a 2 year membership and I will renew once it comes due. I think it has a wealth of information and is well put together.
Also they offer some great DVD's on black bear hunting and calling.
If you don't get it you need to... And no I have no dog in this fight, I am just giving some feed back from my experience with the Magazine.  ;D

I am one of their first subscribers and will continue.  I like the magazine, it is informative and good reading.  Plus it carries a lot of stories about Alaska, my home turf.
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I had a one year and when it ran out I got a 3 year subscription.  It's well worth it.  Now I'm going to have to look into the videos you say they have.

I just took a look at the link and I see that I have two of them myself. I bought them up in Kittery Maine (KitteryTrading Post)  "Bear Essentials" & "Black Bear Zone"... both are good videos

No they are NOT GBO Sponsors. It's just that I can't get Matt to delete their banner. The new guy that replaced Gary there chose not to renew their banner. I've asked Matt a dozen times to remove it but he just has not gotten his round tuit yet.

Among the first to suscribe. Still do. Some of the articles are written by first or second time bear hunters .Some of which seem in awe of their guides or experience. I've ben pictured in a few issues Such as the article Manitoba Gold. (last August I think.) I've hunted bear every year for the past 30 yrs, but I'm still looking for a good hot spot, especially in MB. My primary hunting grounds so I like looking at the guide advertisements and articles about guided. None of the Guns for bear articles have been much use. I know what works and what doesn"t from experience and observation.

I have been a subscriber since 2003 and love this magazine. It is my only magazine I get in the mail. I liked it so much that I bought all the back issues that were available at that time. This was before DVDs were on back issue.  I keep a few next to the bed and rotate them out with  some fresh old issues that I already read. This magazine keeps getting bigger and thicker with more sponsorship which pays the bills for more writers. Pretty gutsy  to start a one animal magazine, not like its Deer Hunting or anything. I also own most of there DVDs, all the Bear N Down DVDs. There done with personalty  and dedication. I would love to hunt bears for a living. Everbody should  buy some of their  hats and give them away. I have a everyday hat and one for higher class occasions.

I am a charter subscriber and still have every issue.  Being a pretty avid bear hunter I am a big fan of the magazine.  I hope they will decide to resume their sponsorship here at Graybeard.  Rev

six_gunz bought me a subscription a while back. I was wondering, is this put out by the NRA?

Not anymore.
Some pretentious writers and nothing new on the calling front kinda turned me off.

I subscribed the first year, that was PLENTY for me, I'm a cartridge rifle and revolver hunter and have NO interest whatsoever in bows, arrows, or black powder guns, which took up more of the reading than did cartridge guns.
The writers were a bunch of wannabe know-it-alls just like the ones in the bigger hunting rags, I gave them a try hoping for better results, but I should have known better! I wouldn't take a lifetime subscription if they paid me!

Myself, I like the Mag. Lots of good information in my opinion. I will keep my subscription.  ;D

Actually, after reading some of your posts on here, I think you should write for Bear Hunter magazine(if you don't already) you seem to have what they are all about.

No I don't, glad you to so much interest in my posts. Yes I post a lot here, at least I have actual experience, and not just blow smoke. If you want to come here and be a troll, I suggest you go somewhere else with it.

I subscribed to it for several years. The information is good for a beginner but little or no in depth studies or detailed information. I wrote to them on several occasions asking questions but they never did respond. Too much about hunting stories and no real substance. Just my opinion.
