The move to Ilion NY was done and finished earlier this fall, new production has already started with a new serial number prefix, a couple here have already bought them. Nothing new in the way of products yet other than the stainless.444 Ultra Hunter, there will be some combos reintroduced for 2009 and possibly more stainless offerings, maybe with a switch to the same stainless frame as the 45-70 and 444 Ultra Hunters.

You forgot to mention Tim, that those new serial numbered barrels and receivers will interchange perfectly with any barrel or receiver produced from now on!

Yea right!    I can only wish!
My culled down Handi's are the 45-70, and then I have a few others to keep it company...357 Mag/Max. .45 LC/.454 Casull Carbine, .243 Ultra, and 20 gauge Tracker II.

I think that would be wishful thinking, but we can always hope. They are working on improving fit and finish and started installing a new wood manufacturing process last month.

So it sounds like they are striving to improve quality? That sounds great! I am going to be in the market for a couple of those rifles this year. Anyone know what the prefix's are on the new products.? Be nice to be able to tell a new one from the older ones.

CBA so far, they're still marked made in Gardner MA, but they're just using up the existing frames that were made there.

Does anyone know if you have an action with a serial number beginning with HX, will the new barrels match or fit that action?   :)

Maybe, maybe not, same as any other year of mfr, you try em and hope for a good fit, sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.  :-\
