Hello aglass1987, ;D
I haven't owned a 357 mag since about 1988.
Use either a 44 mag,45 Colt or 454 Casull.Reload for all of them.
I have a 4 3/4" Uberti Cattleman in 45 Colt.It is the new model,with the hammer block.
Since this gun is based on the old 1873 BP frame (14K PSI),No warm/hot loads.
Definately NO Corbon's,or similar hot loads.
The 45 Colt, for me, was my choice.
You can use the Magtech 45 Colt Cowboy loads all day in it.
Mild recoil.Good fun loads.
If you handload, this is where you can up the ante-so to speak.
You can use up to around 900 FPS,with cast bullets, and it will perform.
And,without unneeded recoil as from the magnums.
They are nice and light carry in the woods.
My other 2,are Rugers in 45 Colt.
For the bad.....My Uberti recently, the bolt and trigger return spring went weak, all of a sudden. :o
With my finances right now, can't order a music wire spring.
So,innovation:I shaped a piece of bandsaw blade to the contours, with the slot.
Found in my collection of computer parts,a screw that did match the threads. It was a little longer.
With this "topper spring",I installed this on top of the original spring.
Works great.And is reliable.
My pard in Montana has said you can use just about anything to keep it going.
Yet,I would carry my Cattleman into the woods.
I have heard that since 2000,Uberti's are better than ever.
You have a good week. ;D

I don't have a cattleman but I do have at this time four Ubertis.
A 45colt/45acp 2 cylinder 4&5/8", a 44-40 7.5", A custom build full coverage engraved high polish nickle in 38-40 7.5"
and a 32-20 7.5".
They are all well built guns.
I have used all but the 38-40 with the 45colt being my favorite!
As 45454 stated DO NOT SHOOT HOT LOADS IN THESE GUNS!!!
With cowboy loads or maybe a little more you will be fine but don't start looking to make a RUGER out of them, BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN!!!
If you understand this and stick to it then you will love them.
I have used them for many many years with great pleasure.
If your thoughts ever run toward trying to hot rod them then go buy a RUGER BLACKHAWK.

I have known and done business with the Uberti family for years and they turn out a fine product.
Ones that I am proud to own.
They make just about all of the reproduction guns being sold in the US no matter whos name is on them.
Go ahead and get one, you will like it.

Hi longtom  ;D
I've heard that Uberti did buy the old Colt equipment.
Would like to confirm or disproved.
If Uberti is using the old Colt equipment, then I'll consider my Uberti,a Colt.
Thanks.
You have a good week.

I can't say about the equipment but if I talk to MARIA anytime soon I will try to remember to ask her.

I also have a pair of cattleman in 45 colt.  The first one I got was great right out of the box.  The 2nd one (taylor) was real stiff, but after a day of watching westerns while dry firing it, it loosened up nice.

Shoot ammo loads rated for the original Colts and you should be fine.

Uberti didn't buy the tooling from Colt for their revolvers. They take/took old guns made by Winchester and Colt and carefully measured all parts and then made up their tooling to duplicate the old guns they had. This was reported in reviews many years ago. They were making them at the same time as Colt which is further proof.

Now I think there is an outfit currently in the old Colt facility no doubt making guns with that tooling and selling them. Can't recall the name of the outfit at this time. Doug Turnbull uses their guns to make up his artwork creations.

That's neat as heck!  All this time I thought those folk just assembled and finished Italian clones!  I've got 2 Uberti's... don't need another single action... that 7.5 inch Custer model sure is purdy!  made in the good ol' U S of A huh?   :P

I know this is an old post, but what the heck...

I have an Uberti, one of the "Millenium" revolvers from Cabela's
From what I've gathered its just a "not prettied up" Colt copy.

Love the gun!!!  its a blast to shoot, and the other day, I slicked it up a little, even more fun now!
It seems to favor the 250 grain ultramax cowboy loads, and a few years ago i played with some handloads using Unique and 250 grain cast bullets, but have forgotten the data.

Don't worry about getting the Buffalo Bore Heavy Colts mixed up and in your gun.  the OAL will not let the cylinder revolve.

I saw that Buffalo Bore ammo just put out  200 and 255 grain loads at 1100 and 1000 FPS, respectively.  These are within specified pressures for the colts.  I haven't shot yet (35 bucks a box!!)  but they should be fun.  not "HOT" loads, but warmer.
