Encore 45/70 accuracy
« on: August 14, 2003, 06:54:08 AM »
Hello I am new to this board I tried a search but did not find my answer. Here is the deal. Last year I bought a new encore 209x50 and loved it so much during black powder season that I wanted to carry it gun season this year so I bought a 45/70 barrell for it. I have tried four different types of ammo and I still cant get the iron sights to adjust enough to hit a paper plate at 50 yards "it shoots high" I put a cheep red dot scope on it and can adjust it alot better but I am still not comfortable taking this to the deer woods. I have a contender pistol and have used the 45/70 barrel with no problems. Is this common with the encore or do I just have a bad barrel? thanx in advance. Looks like alot of good info here I think I'll like it........................Mike :D

If this is a TC brand barrel you can get a taller front sight. I notice that on my several caliber barrels, some have taller front sights. you may want to measure it and then call TC's custom shop to get a higher front sight.

Thanx guy's I called t/c today and they are sending me a fiber optic front sight like is on my 209x50. You have got to admit t/c has customer service second to none.
