transfer bar
« on: October 26, 2008, 04:08:59 AM »
just got a new hornet...trying to estimate the trigger pull without dry firing it by cocking it and releasing the trigger with my thumb on the hammer....shouldered the rifle with the bore slightly above level and tried to release the trigger and the hammer went forward about halfway and STOPPED....looked inside and the transfer bar had swiveled straight back toward the hammer and blocked the hammer from going forward. I believe the lifter worked properly but the striker is fitted to it so loosely that it can flop to the rear if you elevate the barrel....try shootin a squirrel in a tree with this thing. If i pull my lifter assembly, position it properly, and peen that pin that connects lifter and striker do you think that will fix it? when i hold the bore level it seems to work properly every time

They had a problem with the transfer bar a yr.or so back ( can't remember) They were'nt properly peened and if you leaned the rifle to the right, the tranfer bar would fall out when you tried to cock it.Mine fell out it my hand the first time I tried to shoot my new 308 survivor.I called Nef and they sent me a new one in the mail and it fixed it. You can send it in,and they will fix it for free, but its not to hard to fix yourself.  Digger
