you need to send the gun to ruger. it has to be custom fitted for your frame.

The last time I sent one back for an extra cylinder they told me that they would only sell an extra cylinder on a factory CONVERTABLE model, meaning it had to have been shipped from the factory with two cylinders to begin with.
This was a few years back when I bought one used at a gun show that was missing the extra 44-40 cylinder.
At that time it was $75.00 and no charge for the fitting or return shipping.
Things may be different now.

Ruger added .45 ACP cylinders on 4 of my .45 Colt NMBHs. They also changed the barrels to 5 1/2" for me. These are all stainless and this is a non-standard configuration. They also put in a SS 9mm cylinder in a .357 for me.

They wouldn't put in a .45 ACP cylinder in a 5 1/2" SS .45 Colt Bisley.

depending on how bad you want it, you could contact one of the gun smiths that makes those oversized cylinders such as linebaugh and see if they have either a spare cylinder removed from an upgrade job OR if they can make you a cylinder to your specs.

see them occasionaly on ebay. Another thing to try is going to every fourm you can and post a wanted add on there classifieds. Ive picked up 45acp and 4440 cylinders to make two caliber guns and have yet to have one not fit.

Since you have a .45 barrel, a .44-40 cylinder will do you no good.  Ask Ruger about the extra ACP cylinder.  Don't worry about moon clips, they aren't needed in a single action, the ejector rod takes care of extraction.

benjaminw7528,

Here is a site that has short brass for use in the 45 Colt, they call it the 45 Special its 45 ACP length.
http://www.cowboy45special.com/cowboy45brass.html

Trying to use a 44-40 Winchester cylinder in a 45 Colt Ruger Blackhawk not possible.

Full or half moon clips are for double action revolvers and are not usable in a single action.
