243 wssm good buy
« on: January 21, 2009, 01:25:05 PM »
I've come across a good buy on a browning abolt in 243wssm, but I've noticed the gun makers have stopped making them. I just wonder how long winchester is going to make bullets for these guns. What does everybody think about this.

It would depend on how much you will shoot it, it will be a few years before they stop making the ammo, if you are a light user then life is good.  You can also reload for it and do that forever.  Once you have a press you can get set up for a new cartridge for far less than two boxes of ammo.  Larry
A gun is just like a parachute, if you ever really need one, nothing else will do.

thats a good performing round but what would worry me was the short mags could possibly see quite a drop in resale value when they lose favor eventually in the shooting world.shells will prob always be avialable but maybe not at wal mart and could eventually get pretty pricey.if yu like it and its a great deal buy it, just take measures to stock up on ammo and or reloading stuff for it.just dont expect to make any profit on the rifle in the future.
