38's in a 357 max and 22 LR in 22 mag
« on: October 23, 2008, 07:22:11 PM »
Okay, probably a dumb question but... here goes!

Guys talk all the time about shooting 38's and reg 357's in a 357 maximum...

Then, why can't you shoot 22LR in a 22 mag then???    ???

Case lengths are about 40 thousands from 38 to max, approx same with
22LR to 22 Mag...  So then why not?  :-\

Thanks!!

Mike

The 22 lr uses a heaed bullet, the bullet is the same diameter as the case is.  The 22 mag uses a case that is larger than the bullet diameter.  If you shoot a 22 lr in a 22 Mag you will split the 22 lr case because it cannot streach to fit the larger chamber diameter of the 22 Mag.  The 38 is a different story.  Larry
