I got my handirifle back today finally after sending it in to Gardner on 6-15-08.
I had shipped the reciever in for a 45-70 barrel and a .223 barrel.
I wanted scope rails on both rifles but they fitted them both with iron sghts--what in the world?
My box was mangled on the end out of 3 taped and shipped together.
The end of the .223 barrel has a ding on the outside edge at the muzzle and the front sight was sheared off at the screw. I also ordered a new plastic stock to come with it.
However, I'm not going to complain. I initially oredered the 45-70 barrel to be fitted and the plastic stock, later I added a lightweight .223 barrel. I sent a check in with the initial order for the 45-70 barrel and stock. I figured they would call me after the 223 barrel was fitted to get more money. Well, they sent all of the stuff to me and were going to charge me $280 for the extras of putting on iron sights, fitting , etc.
I paid a grand total of $112 for 2 barrels and plastic stock and they sent my old stock and forend back as well.
So........... like I said, I'm not going to complain that it took 4 months to get it back.
If I had to pay for all the rest of that crap and recieved it in the crappy condition that they shipped it in in the flimsy boxes which was no doubt helped by UPS's crappy shipping service--you can bet I would have screamed bloody murder.
Note: Make dadgum sure you keep the serial number of any frame you sent in--they cant find it worth a durn otherwise in the system. ALso make a note on your order that you expect your package to be reinforced for shipping and ask if any other carrier than UPS can be used since they are slow as molasses with their ground service and I'm sure they contributed to the mangled boxes and damaged guns. Fedex is cheaper and their ground service is as fast as priority mail and I've never had a damaged gun shipped to me or from me by their service--but then again I pack anything I send to be gorilla proof with bubble wrap and reinforced shipping boxes.
