According to the catalogs I have in front of me, the Survivor models are .308, .223, .410/.45 Colt. Similar models, the Tamer, is available in .410 and 20 gauge. As for the o-ring trick. In my personal experience when dealing with the synthetic stocks (Choate type) the o-ring does not work well. I use a piece of thick leather (3/16") cut to fit in a rectangle shape with a hole in the center for the stud. I use anywhere from 1 to 3 pieces stacked on the stud to float the fore-end. This may work for you. It has for me. I tend to agree with some of the others- a NEF/H-R rifle or shotgun is a very basic, 'bargin basement' type of a longarm that just happens to work better than it's price would suggest. That said don't expect much more than a basic level of hunting accuracy. That does not mean that they are 'junk', they are not. But a Handi in .270 or any other caliber for that matter will not deliever the accuracy of a good bolt gun. BUT.................in most cases that sort of accuracy is not needed for clean kills. Couple that with prices that are 1/4 to 1/2 that of bolt guns you've got yourself a winner. I guess what I'm trying to say is, appreciate the rifle for what it is- an American made, simple, reliable, accurate enough, rifle that does not break the bank. I don't know what you are hunting but 2" at 100 yards (H-R's stated accuracy claim) is more than sufficient for deer, caribou, moose, elk, even pronghorns at 300 yards (2" at 100 equals 6" at 300 in theory).
