some good news?
« on: October 01, 2008, 09:55:45 AM »
I've read where quite a few folks are not pleased with the NEF after sales service. I have a Handi that I am fixing to return myself (got the UPS ticket at home) and was wondering if there were any who were satisfied with the repair work and the timeliness of the entire procedure. I'd like some encouraging news.
Also, I am wondering what results any one has had as far as accuracy at 200 yards or further.

All my Handis shoot well to 200 yards and most to 300 and beyond.  I have heard of other folks problems with Handis, But I have never experienced them.

I ordered spare parts in September, and got them in September, correct and reasonably priced.

A few of my Handi's are zeroed at 200 yards.  Find a load that the rifle likes and have fun.  ;)

I really dont think customer service has a clue whats going on. I ordered a scope mount on the 19th and got a 10 pack of primer carriers on the 27 they hit me for 13 dollars shipping and just tossed it in the mail. Now the scope mount is on back order.

So far I am pleased with the CS. After I sent in my SB2 frame to have a 12ga heavy put on they called me up and said it couldn't be done due to not having a 10ga frame. I said OK and then asked what could be done. we settled for the 12ga with Iron sights. Yesterday, I called Mark to inquire about my gun and he told me "still waiting on the barrel". A while later I received my updated H&R catalog. I then called Mark back and asked him about the Ultra-Light slug hunter barrel or the Ultra slug hunter TH barrel (due to wanting to mount a scope). Mark put me on hold while he checked around and then came back and told me that even though they don't normally sell these barrels they have the Ultra-light barrel in stock and will put it on for me.
I just thought it was especially good of them seeing how the Ultr-light and the Ultra slug hunter barrels are not on their Barrel accessory lists.

As far as the 200yard sighting I have a 223 that does OK at 200yards. It could probably do a little better if more time spent shooting with it, but it does a fine job.

I am very pleased with my recent customer service experience, it was free and very timely.  I don't shoot my .357 or my .45-70 at 200 yards so I can't comment on that.

Customer Service folks have been very friendly - I know several of their names now.  I think I'm on a couple of their Christmas card lists.

Wish I could tell you about the quality of their repair work.  I think they've been much better about the repair work turnaround time, but then again it would be hard not to be better than what I've seen.

Well I decided to call and cancell the order for the scope mount. The guy I talked to didn't have any record of me getting the wrong part or it being put on backorder. They may be nice and friendly but they still dont have a clue.
If they are getting better I would hate to see how bad they were to begin with. And Im just trying to order a part.

Can't comment on cs, but as for accuracy beyond 200, my .223 shot an 8" group at 400 off the back of my truck and has hit a 10" plate consistently at 300.  I had a friend that hung a couple of 4" steel pipes in a tree at 250 and i could hit those from a sitting position.

I'm sorry I'm posting a reply on this so late.  Sounds like you may have sent the gun in already, and my guess is you'll probably get fine service.  But in general, I'd recommend giving the new factory a couple more months to settle things down.  Swampman got exceptionally good service recently, but he's the only one I know who has.  For most people, its been OK to mediocre, with a few disaster stories.  In my case, the gun came back with some problems, but Rem/H&R have been very eager to correct the problems.  If you're the patient type, go ahead and send it.  If it comes back with problems, they will make them good.  If you're not patient, probably best to wait a couple of months.

Not true.  I sent my in for a new barrel on Aug. 22 and got it back in 4 1/2 weeks with no problems at all.

Nice. Hope to send the rifle in next week. Ike put me behind a week or two. No damage, just a lot of work to catch up with...a trickle effect if you will.

I got my Frame back with a 20 gauge USH barrel fitted to it and it locks up like a vice and they did everything I had asked them to.  I was very pleased.  The only bad thing that happened was the turn around time.  With the move they ran out of cinnamon laminate forearms and were backordered for about 5 weeks so it took a long time to get it back but I was expecting that knowing that I sent it in right after the move.  So all in all, I was happy with the service and quality of work, just a bit disappointed with the turn around time but hopefully they will keep it stocked from now on.
