Remington bought by Bushmaster.
« on: October 25, 2008, 04:43:01 PM »
Read where H&R was bought by marlin.  Then read where Marling was bought by Remington.  Read today that Remington was bought by Bushmaster.  Where is it going to end?

Talk about being a day late and a dollar short.  :o

Your info is both old and incorrect.

Marlin bought NEF/H&R many years ago.

Remington bought Marlin along with the NEF/H&R division about a year or more ago. The same folks who own Remington own Bushmaster. Neither Remington nor Bushmaster own the other. Remington is now marketing rifles made by Bushmaster under the Remington name.

The three headed dog that guards the gates of hell owns them all.

GB:  Yes I knew Marlin bought H&R about three or four years ago.  And that Remington bought Marlin last year.  But what I read was in this month's Preditor Xtream, It said Bushmaster, just bought Remington.  OK, the article was wrong.  Thanks for clearing that up.

Since Cerberus (the mythological three headed dog that guards the gates of hell) bought Bushmaster first and then Remington there have been many incorrect assumptions that Bushmaster bought Remington when in fact it just didn't happen that way. The big dog bought all of them.

Does Remington or Cerberus also own DPMS/Panther?  I thought I saw something about that somewhere.

That's a new one on me. I know about Bushmaster or at least I'm reasonably sure it is them the dog owns but don't know about another AR outfit as well.

I don't know what's up but something smells fishy here, not meaning to start any conspiricary theories but;
As a general thing the firearms industry has not been profitable for the past many years, just look at all the bankruptcies, so why would any one corporation want to own a bunch of gun makers? If I had many millions to invest  ::) a gun company would be about the last place I'd want to sink my fortune into.
The story of David & Goliath only demonstrates the superiority of ballistic projectiles over hand weapons, poor old Goliath never had a chance.

FWIW, Cerberus' CEO is a hunter.

Tim

" Feinberg has traded his tennis rackets for rifles. His new hobby is big-game hunting. On family trips to Colorado, he leaves before dawn, comes back midday, and takes his daughters on a hike. A few trophies have been sent to the taxidermist’s for mounting. “My guy friends are always, like, sketched out,” Lindsey says. “ ‘I don’t want to be with you. Your dad is going to shoot me.’ I’m like, ‘No, he’s not like that. He’s really chill. He’s a really laid-back guy.’ ” "

He's made worse investments than Chrysler!!

I thought I had read something about that, but I couldnt remember where I saw it.  Question: With all the acquisitions going on, how long will it be before there's only one real manufacturer of firearms?

Unlikely but there might one day be only about three major players world wide in sporting arms. Beretta is HUGE and the oldest out there. The folks who own Browning and Winchester as well as FN and then the big dog who guards hell. I can see the possibility it could one day come down to those three.
