Predator Call for Black Bear
« on: October 21, 2008, 07:12:34 AM »
;) Howdy!  I would like to get an easy to use predator call to try and bring in a bear.  It can't be electronic, but handheld using your breath for use.  I need one that will stand up to long use as well. I have tried several; however, they seem to stop working after a couple of minutes use due to something happening to the reed, etc.  If you know of an easy to use "rabbit in distress or something similar" predator call, I sure would like to hear from you. Any tips on proper use would be appreciated as well.  Thanks!

Happy Trails!
Always,

The little standard doe bleat call worked at times in Alaska. This has been discovered by many a blacktail Hunter with his 243 deer rifle.Guess thats why up there most carry for what might be hunting you than what you are hunting.

Open reed calls work the best for me.

Its best to see the bear first and then start calling, since you can control on how fast the bear comes to you.

Unseen bears, its best to call with a partner, since the bear will be coming in fast.

The key is to call in very long sessions and be aware of them crashing in on a fast run.

Most of the time when you stop calling they stop coming in.
