« on: August 22, 2008, 07:25:51 AM »
Is it possible to swap out a 39 barrel and put a 17 Mach II on it ,,,What Marlin barrel could be made to fit?
Just one of those passing thoughts....  8)

39s are getting to classic status. I wouldnt cut one up. there just to nice of guns for that. I think henry allready makes a 17 and it wouldnt cost much more then coverting your gun

Hey, Just got a 2008 Henry catalog & they list 4 models in .17 HMR and none in .17 Mach II (I would own one if they did !!) Great little rimfire -- not many rifles chambered for it.A Henry would be super.I'll have to settle for my CZ Varmint and contender carbines for now.  Sorry, got a little OT ---A Marlin 39 conversion to 17 Mach II sounds like a winner --hope it is possible and not too expensive.
When all those around you fail to measure up, it is time for a new measuring stick !

And that from a fellow who modifieds every Ruger he buys.  :o

I am not sure there are any Marlin parts to do what you want done but any decent custom smith should be able to do it easily enough. If that's what ya really want it's your rifle I say go for it but really there are cheaper options out there to get what you want such as the Henry.

i know, i know, but rugers are a dime a dozen in just about any configuration. the 39s are starting to get real tough to find in any version. At least at reasonable prices. Id cut up a million rugers bill but i wouldnt cut up a colt or a pre 64 winch or another gun thats a classic and the 39s are beginning to get that staus.
