Will stocks for MARK II BTVS & Mark II-BV Interchange?

I have a BTVS in 17 HMR that a friend wants but he wants the more tradtional stock of the Mk II-BV. I would rather have a 22 LR.  I told him to buy the rifle in 22LR and we will switch stocks and trade guns.  Will that work?
