I saw a press release http://www.sakoa7.net/ (turn down your volume) on another forum about the Sako A7...
For example
Short action stainless
weight = 6 3/8#
barrel length = 22 7/16"
Comes with Weaver style bases...or you could put on your favorite style bases and rings..
MSRP = $950.00

I like!!!..... ;D
Are they here yet?

I made it to town for a day yeaterday and i couldn't resist looking at one at a shop. I like the way it felt. I like my Tikka's and this seems like a Tikka with a better stock and a few more metal parts. I may just have to pick one up. The only problem is that I already own every caliber that they offer except for 338 federal which they don't really want.

I agree, Tuna. The 338 Federal is a totaly pussie caliber. I'd liken this to a man who wants a Corvette, but only if it's powered by a de-rated V6.

 Same/same...LOL

So the A7 does have a metal trigger guard, mag and bolt shrould ?

The website specifically mentions a "synthetic magazine with steel feed lips".  So I'm not sure about the other parts, but the magazine does sound like it's plastic.  Personally, I'm pretty anti-plastic too (prefer metal on the rifle and wood on the stock.  The stock is uncompromisable), but I may just break down and order a Tikka.  They're very nice looking rifles.

Yeh mate it would appear the trigger guard, mag and bolt shrould are the same as the tikka,

It's available in a proper short action which is most important to me, i hope we get them here in Australia
