Back To My Roots.
« on: June 09, 2008, 03:20:42 PM »
Plenty of strange things happen to an aging man like some hair falling out and some hair growing in places where no hair has gone before.  But this change is actually good, I have started "collecting" Marble's hunting knives. As a boy my father and big brother carried Marble's. Both Dad and brother have gone on to be with the Lord years ago, but the old knives bring back old memories of cool mornings, bag lunches in the woods and time spent together. I plan on leaving my Marble's for my kids hopefully with some good memories too.

Sounds like a great idea.  I still have, and carry, my Dad's old Kabar Woodsman.  It's 50 years old now.  It's kinda like he and I are back out together on a quiet autumn morning.  Can still smell the coffee and woodsmoke, and feel his presence.  Good memories embedded in a simple tool.

Knives that I inherited from my Father, both grandfathers and one great grandfather and great uncle are some of my most prized possessions. I hope my sons feel the same way.
