scopeable lever gun in 45LC?
« on: February 09, 2011, 10:41:00 AM »
Do they make such a thing?

Before I get flamed to bad, I've got pretty bad yes and don't do well with iron sights. Just can't get the things to focus and line up right.

A buddy of mine has a bunch of leverguns but all are top eject. I'd have to put on somekind of side mount, if I was righthanded. Ain't gonna work, I'm a lefty.

My Marlin 1894 in 45LC is drilled & tapped for scopes.  The Browning BLR is as well.

My model 94 Winchester AE(angle eject) Trapper in 45colt does great with a 1.5x4.5 power shotgun scope in quick detachable mounts.  Lots of eye relief and the scope lets you leave both eyes open when shooting.  There is nothing wrong with a scope on a lever as long as it fits.  For example my little Trapper looks good with a small scope, if I'd put a 3x9-40mm scope on it I imagine it would look silly.  At 4.5 power I have no trouble hitting 200yd gongs, plus the scope right at dark is a big advantage over iron sights.  Like CW & OK said a marlin makes 45colt thats scopeable and if you can a used winchester 94 AE in 45 colt they do well with scope too.  I love mine, it hunts real well !!    Dave

The newer Rossi's are drilled and tapped under the rear sight for a scout mount to scope them.  Requires a long eye relief scope to be mounted, once you get accustomed to them they are very quick to use with both eyes open.  DP

I believe the Mossberg is set up for scope mounting with angle eject.

Go to XS sights and look at the "leverscout" mount for a Win 94. For top eject models, two 6x48 screw holes need to be DNT on the receiver bridge. You can then mount a "scoutscope" . Leupold and Burris make them.

That is what I did to my top eject Win 94.

The 1894 Marlins that live here do very well with scopes, good thing
because I can't see iron sights anymore.
