Sling Choice for Buffalo Classic
« on: June 14, 2008, 10:11:58 AM »
I typically limit my use of a sling to carrying purposes only, removing it immediately upon settling in for a deer hunt.  Having never owned a break barrel weapon before, I'm concerned about the stress exerted to the locking mechanism (and all other tension points) if sling equipped.  When I questioned a local gun store, they indicated that they normally suggest installing an Uncle Mike's version used for a 20 ga shotgun that includes a metal barrel clamp for the fore end and standard wood screw for the rear.  Three questions;

1) does my concern over mechanical stress have any basis?

2) what method would you install the front sling attachment?

3) what brand / model carrying sling would you recommend?

I have used slings on most of my Handi's with no adverce affects at all , have even shot them with a Mil style sling hold and they do just fine . I just use the standard screw in studs like any other rifle . One in the forarm and one in the butt stock .

I use the sling on my Survivor for fireing suport and the thing drives tacks. As to installing swivels mine came with them so cant help you there. I would not be concerned about mechanical stress.
