Scope mount problems on Handi Rifle
«

Hi,
I recently purchased a handi rifle in 44 Mag. I had an extra 2.5X Bantam scope and I planned to put it on this rifle. When I tried to mount the scope, it wouldn't clear the hammer. I ended up putting both rings in front of the adjustment posts. Will this affect the scope holding it's POA
Will this harm the scope???
Thanks in advance for your replies,
Tony Garza

Depending on the recoil you may have a problem were as the rear half of the scope will be jarred from no support and possably break at the junction were the ajustments are , you may have to go with taller rings .

Try a set of medium rings from B-Square. They worked fine on my .30-30. Mid South sells them.

Somewhere in regards to rings for the Handi I saw a note saying use Xtra high. Does anyone know how much higher the line of sight is with those rings above the standard 1.5" the ballistic programs work with?

Thanks for the great replies. I think I'll wait and try some high or extra high rings. I really like the scope and I think this would make a great combo...44 mag and 2.5X scope for pigs out to 75 yards.

You can modify the hammer and extension real easy with a dremel while it's right on the rifle, info can be found in the FAQs, it only takes a couple minutes including touch-up bluing.

If you're willing to modify the hammer and extension, you should be able to make it fit. I know it's not the same size scope, but I put a Leupold 3x9x40 in low rings on mine, just had to grind a half circle shape out of the top of the hammer.
