Leupold.  2x is sufficient for me but I have started using a 4x that is starting to seem like the perfect medium power.  Check out ebay for some of them.  I got my new 4x for around $160 shipped and it was still in the box.  There are some good deals on them sometimes there.  GS

mtngator,

I have a Ruger Super Redhawk (.44 Mag. - 7 1/2" barrel) topped with a Leupold M8 - 2X scope and this past Sunday I put six shots on the paper from 100 yards with the following results (all measurements are to the center of the bullet hole):

3.21250"
2.21875"
2.84375"
1.09375"
0.62500"
0.56250"

For an average of 1.77604" from the center of the target.

I only have 150 rounds through the gun right now and I am still learning where the trigger breaks...however, the Leupold is doing its job.  Great Scope with CRYSTAL clear optics.  Any adjustments I have made have been right on.

I suggest that whatever scope you do chose, lap the scope rings before mounting the scope.

Steve

I really like the Leupold 2x also. I'd buy another one.

I had a Leupold 3x9 on one of my rifles, so I know the quality is great. I will check out ya'll's suggestions.

I have three different types red dots, 2 loopy 2x, and a bushnell elite 2-6. Cast my vote for the loopies.

That was going to be my next question. I would think a red dot would be better in heavy brush , such as we have in FL. not many opportunities for long shots in the palmettos and pines here in the central part of the state.
