New 1377 Owner saying Howdy

I have been shooting a friends 1377 for a few weeks and was so amazed at the accuracy that i had to get one for myself.  I have been reading the crosman forums and trying to grasp all the extra stuff you can do.  I'm pretty sure i either want to get a 14" barrel or move up to a .22 cal. 14" barrel.  not sure about the piston stuff yet.  I don't quite understand how all that works yet.  Once i take the thing apart and look into it, that will make things a little more clear.  Some nice wood would really be nice, but the dat gum handles cost more than i paid for the gun.

Those 1377's are sweet guns aren't they. I have two, one I converted to .22. Both still have the original length barrels though. They are such nice handling pistols I don't want to put longer barrels on them.

Mine is accurate as heck.  Last night i was shooting in the garage.  25 feet to target.  I was busting coke bottle caps consistently, with factory open sights.  A scope and 24" barrel would make this thing a literal tack driver. 

I thought about converting to .22.  What is involved in that?  Do I just need a new barrel, bolt and breech?  Is that all available from Crosman?

I intend to keep mine pretty much factory (except maybe going .22).  I just can't justify in my mind spending that kind of money on a pellet pistol.  I checked into upgrading the valve and piston.  That was $50.  The gun was only $50.

Changing  the breach isn't required when changing calibers. When I converted to .22 I got a 1322 barrel and bolt from Crosman. It was a direct replacement. The 1322 barrels are now no longer available though.
Using a longer barrel you may want to change out the barrel band for one from a 2289 as it is designed to allow the barrel to pass through it and clamps the barrel in place.
At 10 yards I can get nickel-sized 5-shot groups with my .22 pistol. Still trying to figure out the .177. It's needed tweaking to shoot right..

You need either a 24" .177 caliber 1760 barrel or a .22 caliber 2260 barrel.  Call the Crosman Customer Service phone number and have part numbers ready.  I usually just ream out the stock 1377 front sight/barrel band to fit the new barrel. You will also need a .22 caliber bolt for the .22 barrel.  I recommend the Crosman shoulder stock for the 24" barreled gun.  Makes a neat little carbine.

Just paid for a 1377 today on Gunbroker....had one back in the 80's.
Forgot all about them until I saw that one on GB...alot of fun memories came back.

Supposed to get 600 fps with 10 pumps...should get around 700 fps with the new GAMO Raptor ammo....maybe do some mods later...I'll have fun with it stock for now.
