I use this little edited "Pump".22   xxxxx Rifle as my utility gun.   Shooting snakes and rats around the shop and barn.   I have no problems with regular .22 ammo, but the birdshot is another story.   I don't use CCI plastic tip birdshot because this rifle has a tublar feed magazine.

So, that leaves me with the two brands of BRASS birshot.    The 1st few rounds out of the barrel, they do fine.   Then one will jam in the chamber tight enough that the ejector can't pull it out.   It takes a ramrod to push it out.   I can clean it again, and it will work for a few more rounds, and jams again.

Today I polished the Chamber  with JB BORE SHINE.   What factors could be causing this to jam???

Just feel like they may get squished out of shape and get hung up going into the chamber.   But never have tried it to find out.

Hey Bill:
This 62SA is an old ROSSI replica of the Winchester Pump .22.    I believe they are now being made by Taurus.

Thank you for the quick reply...

I have an original, and mint, Winchester 62A... And I just got, as a sweetener in a trade, an early Rossi replica of the Winchester 62A. I have about $20.00 in the Rossi.

Evidentially this Rossi is one of the early rifles, when, as I have been told, they were trying to make an impression in the market place.

There isn't any way that I would ever get rid of my Winchester 62A, or my Winchester 61.

Just a fact of life with that type birdshot. I've never owned a rifle that failed to jam with them. The case end expands out and has little claws that grab the chamber after firing. The pressure is just not high enough to smooth them out.

Bolt guns seem to work best with them and some with good extraction feed them reasonably well but I've never owned a pump or auto loader that would.

Thanks for your input Graybeard.

Bummer;  :'(  I sure like using that little pump just for pest control.  At least it'll give me 3 rounds between cleanings.  I've been putting up with it this long, guess I can stand to put up with it a spell longer.
