35 REM Rechamber??
« on: January 31, 2008, 04:26:13 PM »
I'm considering getting a 357 barrel rechambered to 35 Rem.  I know several of you on this forum have had this done.  Are there any potential problems with this rechamber that I should know about?  Will H&R have any issues with fitting 2 the same barrels to one receiver?  I want one to rechamber to 357 max, and one for the 35 Rem.

Thanks,
Kevin

No issues with two or more barrels fitted to the same frame, I had two 357 barrels fitted to mine recently, then sent one barrel to another member.

Actually an extractor is an easier conversion since there's no lift button to worry about, just change the extractor claw to a 30-06 which can be ordered from H&R, see the Handi owner's manual download at  H&R or in the FAQs for the extractor part number. I just converted my ejector 35Rem to a spring assisted extractor, it's an improvement over a factory extractor, see the FAQs.  ;)

What kind of accuracy are you getting with the 35 REM?  Did Wayne York do the Rechamber?

Yes, Wayne did the rechamber, I did the ejector work...twice!!! ;D Accuracy is right at 1" with the 240gr Mt Baldy FNGC and under 1" with the 200gr Beartooth bullet, both with Varget.
