Barrel fitting tools ???
« on: February 01, 2008, 05:52:14 AM »
Has anyone considered or tried using round ceramic or diamond hones like the ones below for working on the pivot in the under lug?

Diamond Steels:

Ceramic hones, scroll to bottom:

I suspect these would take a lot longer to remove material.

Thanks.
Cordially,

The 10" fine diamond should work fine, although as you said, slowly.  I'm still waiting on a dozen 3/8" chain saw files made by Simonds for now tho, they're less than $3 each. http://www.gboreloaded.com/forums/index.php/topic,132550.msg1098502094.html#msg1098502094

Hey, do you guys know about MSC?

THEY HAVE EVERYTHING!

Just about any tool made and any kind of steel and every spec. you will ever need.

The hard copy of the "BIG BOOK" is a bit spendy. It's the machinists wish book.
But it's all online anyway, you don't need the book.

Regular schmo's get the same deal  as distributors.

Customer service is outstanding!                               http://www1.mscdirect.com/cgi/nnsrhm?KNC-T7L391316886

No joy there, they only carry American files which are tapered, those that I've checked are way too big, what they call 3/8" are .390" and bigger!!  Simonds makes 3/8" straight files, see the other thread, we've been down this path before.  MT's diamond files may work well, just depends on what their actual diameter is, if anyone has one or has a store locally that could put a caliper on one, it would be nice. ;)
