Anyone heard of a keyholing problem with the 38-55 chambering? I am in the market for a 38-55 and one of the local gun shops claimed they were discontinued because of a problem with the bullets keyholing..Anyone else heard of it? Our local Sportsman's Warehouse has three of the rifles on hand..

the problem is they have larger bores and tight chambers. a lot of people have had problems. i have one but i only feed it .379-.380 cast bullets. factory jacketed rounds are .375-.377 diameter. there are lots of threads on this subject.

Lay-a-wayed a 38-55 just a few hours ago. Didn't want the rifle to be a major regret by not purchasing it. Now to scourge up the dies, brass, and bullets (and bullet molds). My first H&R.
