Handi rifle folding stock
« on: January 19, 2008, 04:30:03 AM »
Why does someone not make a folding style stock for the Handi Rifles? These rifles are sold in great numbers and it would seem there would be a market for a folding style stock for them. I have seen the AR-15 style stock for the Handi rifles but don't like the short pistol grip the have on them.

terry,
Good point, I just didn't think of it.

The race is now on, show us your folding stock ideas.  Show us how you have made folders for your Handi.

I may submit one or two myself.

Thanks,
Paul

The Choate folder for the contender and encore would be a great style for the handi.  Choate already makes a pistol grip for the handi.

I tried to take the folding part from a Butler creek folder and attach it to a choate pistol grip but it didnt line up right.

Have to keep in mind you need about a 22" barrel to just keep legal.

Maybe someone will start building a folding sock. I always wondered why they build them for a Contender but not for the handi rifle. I see alot more handi rifles out there than I do T/C contenders.

.

What I am wondering about is, what would be the purpose of a Handi with a folding stock? For what deticated use would you employ it? After all a Handi
single shot is not a machine gun that is fired from the hip. Please enlighten me.

Besides the Handi's challanged accuracy would be further handicapped by another loose joint.

If  you are interested in a simple take-down design for back packing, I have one.

My thoughts would be as a pack gun

It could also be considered as a good foraging gun in a SHTF scenario

Easy to hide

Just a thought

WHY?
As far as I know, a rifle barrel has to be 16" and a shot gun has to be 18". Overall length only counts on a shotgun with pistol grip only. Since the AW ban went away, folders are no longer taboo.

Minimum overall long gun length still needs to be 26".
