Tim? Are you still in one piece?
« on: January 10, 2008, 10:01:06 AM »
A rare tornado just touched down in the Vancouver (WA) area where Tim (quickdtoo) lives.

Hoping all is well with him up there.

I just saw the same thing on CNN a little while ago and sent Tim a PM.

Hopefully all is well.

Yeah, all is well,  it was just north of me, no reports of damage yet, nothing here but thunder, lightning and heavy thunder showers, lights flickered once or twice.

But thanks for checking!! ;D

Certainly nothing to compare to the damage the folks that live in "Tornado Alley" in the Midwest witness. Pretty unusual for the Pacific Northwest though. Enough excitement to keep Channel 2 from going to the Soap Operas!!!
Good to hear all is well with the Handi Arsenal.

They are rare here, but we've had our turn in the barrel, I was living just a couple miles from the bad one in '72.

Here's some pics and a local report, I live on 49th street, about 30 blocks due south of the tornado path.

Tim, glad to hear you are alright.  Back in the late 1990's we had one actually shift our home on its foundation. Those are not good to be near.

I think we get more than our share down here in Texas, but I'm really glad to hear Tim is alright!

I don't like them things, because they are so unpredictable, and there isn't hardly anything you can do but just hunker down.

Again, a sigh of relief!

Over in Mississippi it did major damage to a school in Caledonia and set a school bus up on top of the school. It also tore up a cattle barn killing a bunch of cattle and injuring more and some people. It's now heading toward my area.

I don't want the winds but would sure welcome the rain that should be with the storm front.

Good news that you're fine Tim. I am from the Midwest and have seen three tornadoes through the years. I witnessed the damage from a dozen or so other ones. Some of them sound like freight trains coming through.

Tim.
Lucky man that you did not get right under this tornado. They are bad actors.

They show up in ought places these days. We had an Air Canada plane land in
Calgay today with a bunch of injured people, The plane got sucked into some kind of heavy turbulance it was coming from Vancouver Island to Toronto. It almost tilded
upside down. Close call.

All the best

I hate to say it but Al Gore might be right...   :o

Earlier this week we had several tornadoes here.   Here being WISCONSIN in JANUARY.  While we should have been out snowmobiling, there were snowmobiles flying across town in Kenosha, WI while dozens of houses were leveled.
This is only the second time in Wisconsin recorded weather history that we have had a January tornado.
The scary part is that the first time was Last year (2007) in January.  I am worried now that this is not a statistical fluke, but actual climate change.

We have had them a lot in the past few years in the south east. Glad to say none have hit my land.

I lived in Kansas until I was 19 and signed on that dotted line. I have seen more than my fair share of tornadoes even watched one go right over the top of my grandma's house. Luckily grandpa built it like a fort so there was no damage at all. Kind of glad that in a few months when I get out the only thing I will have to worry about is blizzards since my new home is in Maine.

I remember that one. A couple of my Aunts and Uncles were in school at that time (both the high school and the grade school).
Have lights? Thank a Lineman!
