« on: October 11, 2003, 11:20:48 PM »
my hunting pard just bought a 12 john boat been looking since last year but couldn't find one we could afford. tonight my brother asked my if i had looked at the boad down the street i hadn't seen it, been there for a week with a large sign on it. went and looked at it it's not in great shape but he got it for $90.00 and was asured it floats. had to go get cash when we got back there was some one there waiting to see if we came back as he wanted it.
the boat has jb weld on all the rivets and is cracked at the top of the transom looks like if fell out of a bed and slid on the road a while but it has been braced up with oak bolted bouth sides lookes solid. some paint and i think it'll be ready to go now where did i put the deks

Congrat's on your find. I think almost any boat in that range is worth $100.00. If you're like me you enjoy just getting out in the yard and working on those kind of projects. My sig other can't seem to figure out how it's more fun to paint a duck boat than it is the kitchen. Another thing you may want to consider is looking in to having the inside of the boat covered with a spray on bed liner, something similar to a rhino liner, but these can get pricey.

Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time....ES

the bed liner sound like a great idea don't know how manny times i have sliped one the bottem of a boat with mubby feet or boots, can you paint over it. i worked on it some this week end the rivets are rusted under the jb welds and it is starting to chip away a freid said to try some 911 that plumber use to spray joints that leak. i am going to see how mutch that stuff is and might paint inside and out with it.
thank you
