300 H&H?
« on: January 11, 2008, 05:32:44 AM »
Thinking about picking up a used 300 H&H for use on an African trip.  A  little nostalgia but the question does arise should I just get a 300 wsm and load it mildly?  Plains game under 200 yd shot and don't need excessive power.  I have a 30-06 but in a 22" barrel T3.  Any thoughts ?

Well, if it was me, I would go with the .300 H&H. Just saying the name of that caliber is soooooooooo cool!!!! What a long history it has, and still does everything just about as good as the newest "big deal". Feeds well, shoots well, performs well. Just watch your P.H. smile and swoon when he see's it. No doubt you'll hear him say " I remember....".
Do it!!!

I'd much rather shoot that .300 Super as-is, than download a .300WSM, anyday !
