Synthetic Stocks
« on: December 26, 2007, 06:09:35 PM »
The time has come for a new synthetic stock, well, actually a pair of stocks.  One will be for a Rem 700 LA (30-06) and the other will be for a Ruger M77 MK II (270 Win).  I was looking at the Bell and Carlson stocks but don't know anything about them (or the others for that matter).  I have also looked at McMillan, Brown, Bansner, and H. S. Precision.  What I do want is a non-injection molded fiberglass stock that can be glass bedded.  I don't want a light weight but I don't want it as heavy as a Hogue Stock either (already have one just don't like it).  Something around 2# and sporter configuration.  Are the higher end stocks really worth 2X as much for someone just looking for repeatable and consistent accuracy?  Not looking to win bench rest matches just a good, stable platform for a hunting rig.

Thanks!

Pardon me but I am puzzled  ??? why do you need a new plastic stock?

I am used to wood stocks and unless someone messes them up then the stock lasts ........................... forever  ;) I have one rifle which needs a new stock due to it being heavily altered for either a child or small lady otherwise it's still OK.

McMillan Edge stock for the 06 and a McMillan stock for the Ruger. The Edge is a light weight stock and their stock for a Ruger isn't bad weight wise. My son has a McMillan on his Ruger 77 MKII .280 and it's sweet.
