Decided on a 308

After reading about the 270, 30-06 and the 308, Iv'e decided on a 308. But I have a deliemma.  My mom and pop shop can get me a handi in 308, but they can get me a savage also. The handi will be $229.00 and the savage will be $289.00. Also reading about the.( model 200). And I can get the mossberg at Wally World for $249.00. Il like the the simplistic way a handi operates. But I'm curious, will the handi in 308 be as accurate as the other 2?  I know which ever one I get, it will get cleaned, and the bore flitzed good. That handi will be wood stock. I own a few handis and I well pleased with all of them. I will put a good scope on it.  Give me some reasons to get the  handi, PLEASE! It will be a couple of weeks before I get it. Plus, it will be hand-loaded with 150 hornady sps.

We could all give you a hundred reasons to get the Handi but...

Look at all of them up close, see how they fit you and choose the one that will be the best for YOU!!
I don't see anything wrong with your choices and you can't really go wrong with a .308

It really depends on how you want to use it.

The Handi in my opinion is just as good a gun as those you've mentioned but the simplicity of being a single shot what makes it appeal to a lot of folks.

It's light weight, and easy handling make it ideal for a walk around gun, as well as shooting out of a blind.

It's Handy as well as the name implies.

You can't go wrong with any of those choices in my opinion, and I would love to have your deliemma, in having to decide, but it's all about personal choice, and what will work best for you.

Nothing wrong with a good accurate bolt gun out of the box accurate, but they are reasonable enough in price why not buy both, or at least leave that option on the table!

What ever your choice it won't be wrong, and you could even order from NEF a .308 barrel for one of the Handi's you already own!

Do you hunt from tree stands or ladder stands often?  If so, the Handi is much easier (and quieter) to load and unload than a bolt gun.  In a couple of stands in sensitive areas where I have to haul the rifle up on a rope, I hunt with one of my Handis rather than my Remington and Weatherby bolt guns for that very reason.

 Good choice, .308 Win.

If you buy a Handi, you have dozens of different barrels to choose from if you should decide to try something different.
With the other two, you got what you got, no options.

I have a Stevens 200 in .308, I also have a handi but not in that caliber.
I love my 200 and I love my handi.
The 200 is lighter than my .243 (24" bull) and just as handi for a hunting rifle.
Its also very accurate but I've heard good things about the handi 308 also.
So imo you can't go wrong with either, its just which ever one you want FIRST!
