My first military surplus pistol
« on: December 15, 2007, 11:29:42 AM »
Made the deal last week. I'm waiting for the paperwork (*%#@ government regs.) then I get my gun.

Here she is, It's a Russian TT33 Tokarev in excellent condition, It comes with two magazine, the holster, lanyard & cleaning kit.

It cost me $295.00, I hope I didn't pay too much.

I have a CZ52 Tokarev and dearly love it. Accuracy is much better than I expected. Ammo is dirt cheap, check out Sportsmans Guide, and I have never had the gun malfunction in about 500 rounds of shooting.
Just ordered a stronger spring for the gun and plan on starting to reload for it shortly. Hope to pick up another when I can find one.
You have a fine piece, ENJOY.

Rod B:  that is one nice lookin' TT33.  I'm glad to see them back on the market.  I'm thinking of getting a second one for personal carry, either a TT33 or one of the Romanian pistols. The 7.62x25mm round is quite powerful.

tn_junk:  be careful when buying surpluus ammo for those CZ52s or reloading for some of those older pistols.  Check the mil-surp forum for threads on surplus ammo warnings for the 7.62x25mm round.  The CZ52 is a real workhorse and quite strong but some reloading data can be quite misleading.  You may wish to check out Ron Reeds site for data on the 7.62x25mm round.

I was given a set of reloading dies for the 7.62x25mm and had some questions about the loading data that accompanied the dies - I ran the data past Ron and his advice was not to use the data as some of the loads were way to hot for the old Tok I shoot and even for some CZ52s.

I ordered a stronger spring and couple boxes of ammo from Ron last week. Came in today. Really fast service.
May do the spring replacement this weekend.
Think I will wait a little on starting to reload.

Dude...you did awesome!
I see no import safety....that gives it alot more worth than the ones with import safeties!
I paid $300 otd for a '43 Russian Tok with no added safety with two mags....turned around and sold it for $575.

I've seen Russian Toks with no added import safeties go for $900+ on Gunbroker....

Thanks for the positive comments.

I'm looking forward to trying it out.
