Want to personalize my 45-70
« on: November 24, 2007, 03:55:00 AM »
I am looking to doll up my 45-70 Handi. Right now its all "as issued except for the old Weaver K1 scope. I an debating on ordering the Williams FP rear sight from H&R. Does any one make a front sight ramp for the Handi that with a dove tail so I can try different front sights?
Also, what about stocks? The factory stock works ok but has too much wood in it. I would like a thinner stock of walnut or cherry. Due to lack of time, I do not want to make one from a blank. Do you know of some good sources of finished stocks semi complete stocks?

Bill, see the Peep and Firesights link in the FAQs, Williams makes a shotgun shorty ramp that fits the 45-70 barrel just fine, you can even use it with the small screw that comes on current production barrels, I put one on my new 44mag barrel this week, but it would be best to tap it to 6-48 as cdl mentioned.
