This topic may have already been discussed, but has anybody tried this stuff yet??

I wanted to try it out in my 45/70, see how well it shoots.

I don't know about anyone else but my 45-70 22" barrel shoots a .875" group at 100yds with the Leverevolution from the bench.  I only fired 10 rounds thru 7 were dead zero and the other three were adjusting for the zero.  First four rounds were the .875" group and the next three were for adjusting for dead center, last three were 1.25" and I called them fire for effect all with a 1.0" diameter center.

I will not shoot anything else now and intend to leave the zero alone.  I just hope Hornady would make some other lever action rounds with the center like .375, .356, .307.  Be nice huh.

      I take it this is better accuracy than you have gotten in the past ?

     The whole concept seems to be immaterial , unless you are shooting at a great enough distance for the pointed tip to retain greater velocity ?

Looks like the .30-30 gains the most from this technology.  Think I'll stick with hard cast/gas checked "thumpers" in my .45-70.  Kudos to Hornady and Marlin for pushing the envelope in any case.

I sed the Leverevolution i both my 30-30 and 45-70 last year and got very good results.
Part of the claim for these is the ballistic tip and higher burn powder used to get higher fps.
But on the Hornday site recently or Marlin site there is a link saying they are not currently able to get this powder at this time so ballistics will change until a new source is found.  NOt sure how that will affect the whole thing.  I still have two boxes of each I bought last year

To answer your question, they shoot very well in my guide gun.  I haven't chron'd them yet and probably won't.  They are definitely accurate and probably good deer and black bear medicine and maybe even elk, but that is only speculation as I have no real world experience with them on game.  I will mention that the OAL length of the brass is shorter (by design) than other factory loads.

Lloyd, should I throw all my 150 grain round nose ammo and bullets away now that something better is here? Will they not work anymore at 250 yards, as they have since 1957, in the same ole rifle? Just askin. ;)

have had great results with 45-70, 325 grains in my ruger 1, dropped an elk at 60 yards, in its tracks. the leverevolution has extended the zero on my scope about 50 yards
