Wolf Control House & Senate bills...
« on: March 05, 2008, 03:04:15 AM »
The 4 bills have been introduced and are now being overlooked by the Ag section of the State House...

Please look these bills over and get in touch w/ your Congress and Senate representatives to support these very important tools to get rid of the problem wolves in  their overpopulated areas...

MI House Bill 5686-5687, Senate Bills 1077-1084...

The bill was passed...105 for and one against.  It should go into law this fall to protect dogs and livestock.  This doesn't mean an open season on wolves, just a great tool to finally be able to rid the problem ones that come around.  We, of course cannot keep the wolf.  It must be turned in by 24 hours to the DNR.

You will have to contact the DNR within 24 hours of shooting a problem wolf.  Maybe later we will be able to, but for now they take the mangy carcass to the Rose Lake DNR Research center to study.

The closer we get to legalized hunting control the more the anti-hunters will come out against it. It's amazing how they just love the wolf & hope it replaces the hunter. I recently read a story from an old timer on how they had a bounty on owls in OH or PA I think, 'back in the day'. How much things have changed. While out with a retired DNR relative in the 70's he would comment on how we have to take out that hawk(cooper's maybe?) to protect the grouse. Now so many predators are protected.

Here in the Yellowstone ecosystem, a judge just threw out all the agreements and negotiations to get the wolf off the endangered list, even though all the conditions to delist were met long ago. Wyo Game and Fish will continue to pay for livestock losses, over $50,000 a year, they are funded solely by license sales, even though they now will have no say in wolf management. I think it's time to open a season on liberal judges. Who can this dumb decision be appealed too, why the 9th circus no less.

All for naught now, they found their judge to put the wolf back on federal protection.
