Front site on Remington Model 700 (7mm)

How does the front site come off my Remington 700?  I removed the screw thinking it would simply come off..nope.  Even after a few taps with a rubber mallet it didn't move.

What am I doing wrong?

Drift out the front sight blade. You'll find another screw under it that also has to be removed. (You may want to replace the screw you already took out to make it easier to tap out the sight blade.)
